10 min after shutdown on level pavement upright

It seems that the sewing machine sound is the trademark, along with blue pipes. I performed a "bafelectomy" within the first week of having my bonnie. It sounds much better and hides the tick tick quite a bit.

Don't worry abouyt the tick, it's normal. Get some louder pipes to cover up the noise. Congrats on the pilots license. Getting one is more commitment than most people think. I'm out (biennial?) now but plan to get back into it when my kids grow a bit. Now I just get to work on them, not fly them.

I haven't noticed it yet on my Thruxton (still in breakin period), but my Speedmaster with 10,500 miles is TERRIBLE!! I have been told that the use of synthetic oil makes the ticking worse...which of course is what I have in the Speedy. So I'm going to ask for semi-synthetic for the 12,000 mile service and see if that makes a difference.

I've got a bit of valve tick at 4200 mi on my '05 thrux. Louder pipes help you forget about it. I too was worried by the ticking sound, but it seems like that is a standard feature of the bonne engine...
