I was looking to pick up a Bike Lift for my thrux but I noticed that the headers are actually lower then the Frame in some areas.

I was wondering if there is a certain type of lift I should be using or just use some 2x4's under the bottom of the frame.

Thanks

The scissors type lifts, like the one available from Craftsman, work fine.

It works nicely, I am making some risers to use it with my Vespa's as well....

The cheap ones that are available at Autozone, Checker, etc. work great too. As long as you get center of balance right and use tie downs you should be fine.

Are you resting the Bike on the header when you put it up on the lift?

I got mine at Checker for like $55. It works great on my Yamaha. Almost identical to the one from Craftsman, but for less money.

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
I use the Craftsman lift and use a couple of lengths of wood so as to take the load on the engine and NOT the headers.

The frame on my Thrux is lower than the headers - not by much but enough so that no weight is on the headers.
Check carefully - at first I thought the headers were below the frame.

You guys using the Craftsman lift, are you using the...

or the "Professional Model, in aluminum"...

Other than big $ and lbs difference, is either better or worse in anybody's informed opinion. Thanks, I'll take my answer "off the air".

I have the professional model. Only pluses I have seen is its lighter and comes with a set of three inch risers, if your lifting something with a high frame like a ATV.
Cons. It doesn't have the foot pump like the standard model, so you jack it up with the handle, which is also the same handle you use to move it around. Can be a bit of a pain, but it works
