Hey All,

I'm really close to buying this fiberglass seat for my new tank:

I really like the ridge along the back.

Lately, however, I've been thinking about another style of seat:

I used to think this seat style was ridiculous in a 70's disco kind'a way. However, it's starting to grow on me (in a 70's disco kind'a way). Also, I think its square and upswept shape would look good with the tank I'm trying to make for my Thruxton:

What do you think, would this seat work with my bike? I think I'd have to extend the seat pan a little, or else chop off the rear subframe, which I don't want to do.

For what it's worth, I think the one on the black BMW would look good with your tank. I like the one with the highlight split for a stock thrux tank. Who makes that one?-T1

Mancha - I think the duck tail seats would look great with your new tank - my fav is the one on the triton - I also like the paint and stripping on that one. I like the seat with a ridge for the stock tank - who makes it?

Thanks for the feedback so far. I have to admit I'm a little reluctant to admit who makes the ridged seat pan as it's an eBayer and I don't find them very often. Still, this place has been a great help and I'll show you the auction:

Mancha - I like the body work on this Norton - the seat and tail section in particular. I would need a wee bit more padding on the seat for my tastes. Don't know where it came from - just found the pic under a google search. JCW

while I don't share your affinity for the duck tail seat...I think the style would match your tank perfectly. I personally like the one in the picture Thurx-tom-up posted.

Great work on the tank!

That is a cool seat Thrux-ton-up. Kind of reminds me of this one:

I'd never noticed the belly pan on this bike by the way. Very nice.

Also reminds me of this one:

This one is kind of the low-tech version though, huh?

And you're right, I'll be putting on significantly more padding.

That Norton outfit may come from The Tank Shop, specializing in all things alloy.
