Hi Folks,

OK, so what kinda gear do you all ride in. I wanna find a
reasonable pair of riding boots, but don't want to end up
with the big ol' Cruisin style. Just doesn't work on a Thrux !
I want something a little better than my old trainers. Has
anybody found the 'perfect' riding boot that befits the style
warranted by the Thruxton. (and don't costa lotta!)

I like my Dainese Boots (TT2)....

Pretty good compromise between protection and wearability. They look inconspicuous enough that I wear them to my office with office casual wear and nobody notices. Or at least no one has walked up and said "what up with those funky looking boots man?!!!!"

Ikon Superduty II's .....They were pretty cheap, under $100.00

Very comfortable & go well with what I like to ride in.
(Bohn body armor underneath my jeans & a more classic styled jacket... .......Personally,I don't like the whole knee pucks on the street look....as I am not a Moto GP rider.IMO)

They stay cool on hot days & keep my feet warm on cool days.
They may look a little thick but they work well with the Thruxtons peg arrangement.
Good Luck!

Newenough.com has a big selection of motorcycle boots for very good prices (especially the closeouts). They are heavy on the sport-bike style which works well on the Thruxton.
I bought good Gaerne street boots for under a $100 from them.

Sidi makes some of the best motorcycle boots and the US distributor Motonation usually has a model or two on closeout. I bought a pair of Sidi City's (which look like this) for $100 when they were discontinued.

Also, it's nice to get boots with shin protection. The wife of a friend of mine got into a low speed accident wearing these Harley rebranded work boots. Her shin got caught on the frame or something and was torn open, exposing bone

The most comfortable boots I've ever had are the Triumph boots. I just got a new pair of the Expedition boots, and they're quite protective and all day walking comfortable. The Explorer boots are also quite nice, and a little less expensive.

I'll second the vote for the Triumph Expedition boots. They are warm, comfortable, fit perfectly and keep the elements at bay. They are high enough to help protect one's shins, too.

On the other hand, I picked up a full set of Triumph's Typhoon wet-wear clothing and after a season in those things, I'm really not impressed. The liner doesn't zip out on either the jacket or the pants, so if you want one set that will handle both the colder/wetter weather and the warmer days, you are out of luck. Of course, this year Triumph came out with the Typhoon II which has no liner at all, allowing you to layer as you see fit for the weather. I guess some other people didn't like the first edition, either.
