anybody have this set-up? just disconnect the mufflers and have open headers, have to mess with the ecu ? what do you guys think ?

I think this is a common question asked by guys who don't want to spend a lot of money on their exhaust. I speak from Experiance. I ended up getting Lossa stubby cans. Similar to open headers but sound better and they have a little more back pressure which is better for the engine. Yes you will need ecu modifications.
