Hi team

So, after i get my custom exhausts fitted, I'm going to fiddle with my '12 Thruxton's airbox. After much research, I've learned that the two best options are an ARK or a TTP Breathe/Bafflectomy. Whichever choice i make, I'll be acquiring the appropriate TTP tune. So, which is best?

According to TTP, their breathe/bafflectomy mods offer comparable performance gains to an ARK and pod filters (up to 6500 rpm, but who revs that high anyway). If this is true, why would anyone opt for pods? There's roughly $200 difference in price between the two options (TTP being the cheaper).

Is it an aesthetic thing? Do they perform better? I'm a bit lost. Should I fork out the extra dosh for an ARK?

sound preference, ARK you will be able to hear the engine sucking air in more. Also you lose some weight, not much but its some.

the only time i'm not at 6500 or over is when i've got my girlfriend on the back and we're going for a nice country ride.

Well, I want to get the airbox modded so the bike breathes and runs better. Revving the smeg out of the stock bike is just pointless because it runs out of breath.

I went the Breathe route with TTP #3 and am very happy - the bike runs superbly and pulls strongly right up to the new 8,500 rpm limit. It's my understanding from Mike at TTP that going ARK with a good set of pods (and TTP tune of course) would only give me 1 or 2 more peak HP and below about 6K or so, there is no noticeable difference.

PieMan's Breathe intake cover has only recently become available. If Mike (PieMan) says it offers comparable performance gains to air box removal, you can trust it is indeed comparable to air box removal. Mike has been a wealth of information and technical contributer to this forum for years. He has helped more than a few forum members, and obviously does it out of love for our Bonnevilles. He's definitely not your typical businessman.

I have a carbed T100 that I bought new in '06. I wanted to keep my air box and opted for a NH bellmouth after the initial, 500 mile service. I'm very happy with the NH bellmouth. Used in conjunction with a free flow air filter, and less restrictive exhaust, the bellmouth works great for realistic, ridable performance. Throttle response is very concise thru the range. With that said, I would have opted for the Breath had it been available.

IMO the answer is no. Buy the Breath from TTP and use the extra money for other mods, such as upgrading your suspension. Just my 2 cents.

Is the ark worth it depends on how much power you want to get out of your bike now and later.One thing about going to good pod filters you do it one time and your good to go no mater what you want to do as far as engine mods later down the road .You just cant beat pods for makeing hp on these bikes that has been proven many many times.
besdes the cost there is no down side to pods.
