Tire recommendations!

Just purchased a 2013 green Thruxton this weekend, but cannot stand looking at the narrow rear tire. What is your recommendation on 110/80-18 and 150/70-17 tires? I know some tires cannot be used with inner tube.....

I'd recommend Michelin Pilot Road 2s. I have them on my bike and love them. Dual compound is nice. I personally have a 170/60/17 rear on a 17 X 5.5 rim but I would think the 150 would be a nice upgrade from stock.

Did you have to buy new inner tube? The web site shows this tire is prohibited to use inner tube?

I would think you'd be able to use a tube in those tires. I surely plan to when I slap these on this winter...seems like one of the best options for the stock rims by far

A vote here for the Pirelli Sport Demons in the sizes you mentioned. I love how the bike feels with these tires, a tiny bit slower in the steering but feels so rock solid and transitions into turns so smoothly, and really sticky. Not the longest wearing tire in the world, or so I hear, I'm only about 500 miles in. Zero regrets.

I always replace the tubes whenever I put new tires on. In my case, I had to go larger due to the 170 rear. I do not see any issues running these tires with tubes.

Thank you for all the information. PR3 is my choice if the inner tube is not a concern. Living in Seattle, I know I will run into rain from time to time... PR3 seems to be the good fit.
