I have run with pr2's. I liked them except for when braking very hard. Unless the tire was hot and the road warm to hot, the front would let go. I am talking hard braking. I went to conti road attack 2's. Much better traction but they are wearing a lot faster. I'll maybe try pr3's next though.

My vote gets the Pirelli Sport Demons with 1 size up on the rear to a 140/80 x 17. Second best thing I ever did after installing the Predators!

I love the Sport Demons (don't love paying for new tubes each time I change tires but I do it anyway

Having tried. Avons (don't go there) Bt45s, and Metzlers I'm now running Michelin Pilot Actives and they are the best so far.

Thanks Simmo, can anyone tell me what sort of mileage you get from the Sport Demons vs Michelin Road 2's or 3's ??

I don't think the sport demons are dual compound, therefore I would think your better mileage would come from the PRs.

Can't say for Michelin (and everyone rides differently), but I get 5K plus on my rear Sport Demon (and typically change front every other time I put rear tire on).

bridgestone

I recommend the bridgestone battleax Bt-023. I have the bt-023 GT on my Griso 1100, which is about the same weight as the bonneville/thruxton. The GT version is not available in a rear size that will fit the stock thruxton wheel, but the regular bt-023 is, and it's a great tire. The reason I chose this tire, is because I've had trouble with other sport tires being dangerous in the winter until they warm up (I ride nearly every day, year-round), and this one has been great in every situation I've put it in, including torrential downpours.

PR 2's are very durable and will give you high mileage. I would guess maybe 3 times the softer tires like SD's.

Extra Motorcycle: One day...
My rear Sport Demon has probably used up half of the tread after 2700km, but I give it a bit of a hard time. They're fantastic tyres for the street though.
