The Great Clip-ons/light/guages project has begun.

Here's a little Teaser.
I got dimensions off of my bracket that's stock on Bianca. I just want it flat and a good location to relocate the ignition to so my Triumph key chain will top flopping around in the wind. Took those dimensions to work, created an DXF File and cut it on the CNC Plasma cutter. It's 10Ga Galvanized. I'll clean it up, drill mounting holes, and paint it black. I can't put it on the bike until i get my relocator ears and clip on bars though....Grr. Gotta be patient i suppose.

so there were a few flaws with that first prototype. I have round two cut and ready for fitment tonight. If that one fits well i'll have the final cut in 10 gauge. I got my Bitwell headlight ears and my KungFu natural rubber grips yesterday in the mail.

After my BD on the 29th of this month i'll be making the purchase of my bars. Once i have all the components i think i'll have the ears and bracket powder coated by a local company Powder Craft. If the bars need it (which i hear they don't) i'll have them done too.

I'm debating...should i have the triple clamp from my brother's bike coated as well? it's the stock aluminium 2008 triple clamp. It would look better black to match the bike like all my other components, but if it can't be done i'll just leave it silver.

Looks good M. My vote is to coat the triple to match!!

The build is coming along nicely. I do have some ideas.. unfortunately, I have to keep them to myself. I'll be building a bike out of a wrecked bonneville this winter, and I want to use those ideas!

On another note, I don't know why people say don't put black and brown together. I say, if you like it, do it. Forget the 'in' crowd. Here's my custom seat from my 07 Griso 1100:

hey, that's very clean and classy. i love it. I just thought a complete brown would suit the bike well. I dig yous though. flows nice.

As promised here's test fit pics. It all goes together, but is rough. With the 10 gauge it will be cleaner. but i think it will work nicely.

I need to wire 220 for that compressor though, but i'm stoked for this build. Got lots to do yet, but i'm excited. I'll keep you guys posted. I think i probably will have the triple clamp coated provided cost is not bad.

Thanks for all the input every one. I've really had fun so far, and i enjoy your ideas a critique. It gives me inspiration and ideas to pull from. i hope you've enjoyed watching so far.

Update. Got the final bracket cut and cleaned and fitted to make sure it all goes together.

Basically, i had to get long 5mm Hex Screws, (which i'll replace with allen head screws later) with a nut to hold those in place. then i set jam nuts at the proper height and sandwiched the ignition between the jam nuts and a flat washer and lock nut.

Here's so you can see the screw heads and how the ignition fits.


And here's the side profile. Please excuse the rags again. i haven't fit the new lower ears to the bike yet.


When i got the bracket from the plasma cutter it was pretty raw. i used my dremel to clean up the inside of the guage holes to make sure the rubber gromets fit right. I used a Step drill bit and my corded drill to get the mounting holes and ingnition mount holes cleaned up and the correct size.

After that i used my orbital sander to clean up the rough edges left by the drill bit.

Once i get my bars, which i think i'm paying for today, i'll be able to pull the triple clamp off my bro's bike and we can get all our small parts down to powder coat probably by the beginning of next week. I'm freakin stoked.
