i noticed that most modifications tend to go either in the direction of touring (elimination of the clip ons, corbin seats etc) or racing (rear fender elimination, small blinkers, exaust and carb tuning and new suspension) while i personally really like the race look on the bike i wonder whether somebody did something different to his bike. so this is a call for the odd and creative. any pics?

typically what you'll find with the Bonnies, T100s, and Thruxtons is either a classic look, cafe racer, touring, bobber, or scrambler. You'll find a variety of these, but I don't recall seeing anyone go the scrambler route yet (at least on this site) although a couple have used the shark pipes.

I know biker build off did a chopper a while back and those pictures were posted here. rodburner had a nice bobber thing going, but last time I looked he took most of his photos off.

The photo abums are great, but I must admit, I wish it was broken down like the forums rather than by username.

I'm conflicted......

I'd like to replace my D&D's with some 30" pipes with fish tail tips from out of a Harley catalog. In addition, I would like to stick a springer solo saddle on the solo seat pan they now make for the Scrambler. Between my leather "Pony Express" saddle bags, the bikini fairing with it's retro look, and fish tails & solo saddle...... the package might replicate "olde school".

On the other hand, I also have some Hepco Becker hard bags (love 'em!). I can't help but think about replacing my Omar's bikini fairing with a Parabellum Scout, Black with matching Gold pinstripe. Add a custom seat, replace my M Bars with something that allows me to sit up a bit more, and stick a cruise control on the bike.

But my other fantasy (it changes weekly), is to simply add a Corbin Smuggler, a race-bred two-into-one exhaust, pay the big bucks for some mag' wheels (tubeless tires), and hope that someone will eventually offer an after-market rev' limiter.

I really like the idea of FishTails & a springer seat... You should do it, that would really be one of a kind.

absolutely, do it! and while the hepcos might be practical as hell (ask me, i am german) they look kinda funny on your bike. i would stick to the leather and rather wrap the contents in a plastic bag if you're afraid of water (which we all are)

Once I get the gel seat from the new scrambler, I'll have most of my "modern classic" look done....not a replica, but new version of a original classic:

Panthermark,
I would love to see more views from different angles of those engine bars. I don't quite understand it, 'cause normally I hate "crash bars", but there is something about those particular bars on your bike that I like!

To the others giving me license to go ahead with my retro', leather-bag look. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Y'all may have given me the incentive and enthusiasm to follow through on my vision!

Pat, I love the look of your bike with the leather saddlebags. I'm having a tough time picturing it with a Parabellum Scout and high bars...Dont you dare!!!

In fact, I want those saddlebags for my bike. I think you mentioned this somewhere before but I couldn't find it - What kind are they and are the brackets very noticeable when you take the bags off? And these aren't the ones that ended up in a ravine somewhere are they?

~Ridge,

Yes....... it was one of those leather saddlebags that I lost down a ravine on one of my more "spirited" rides. I've replaced the bag, and a few things contained therein.....

They are mounted (via an improved system) to my Hepco Becker hardware as pictured below. I suspect a guy could use the Triumph bag hardware; and if I sell my Hepco's..... that'll be the way I go.

Yeah,
high Huffy handlebars, BIG Scout, and plastic bags will in no way replace my desire for the new 800cc Beemer parallel twin. My BonnieBlack is gonna become my "look'n tough-n-fine", bar hopper, laugh at the poseurs.... Biker'rider bike.

This is what the rather substantial Hepco mounting hardware looks like. The Gold pinstripe actually helps the look if I choose to run without bags.... but why?
