I have managed to pick up quite a few nails in the last 110,000 miles and five years......

but I've been able to repair my tire on the road by plugging it, and get back home (actually putting additional miles on the repaired tire too).

Now that I have a Bonnie' with inner-tubes, I'm frightened of being stranded somewhere. I WILL NOT subscribe to buying tools for tire removal and patching!

I want to know what y'all might think of "Slime" as an additive....??? Better still, what can I buy to use as either a preventative measure, or in the event of..... a flat?

Thanks buggy.....

I was told that our front wheel is "too shallow" to take to the tubeless conversion, do you know anything more about this... have you done it to YOUR bike?

How's Stockton the east side, from Stockton on the west side? (It kinda sucks here.....)

Never tried it, but sure don't like our situation.

Stockton east is really nice country living. My favorite road is at the end of my driveway.

I've seen reports of some stuff called "Ride On>" You fill your tires tube with it, then if your unlucky enough to pick up a nail this stuff claims to seal it right away.

I think Motorcyclist magazine did a short article on it a year or two ago.

I've looked all over for it, but no luck so far-

Anyone else?

If the Bonnie's toolspace is as generous as the Thrux, then I'd say a mobile phone!

The Ride On stuff works great, even helps to balance the tire and reportedly keeps them a little cooler. You can buy it directly from their website.

Lovely....... I researched, read, posted, asked people, discussed........

I studied -Ride On's- site, and it suggested something like a 91-95% success rate with it's stuff in tubeless tires, and only 41-45% for tires with tubes.
- Strike one -

I read the miraculous claims on Slime's site, but all the tires they pictured (they even mentioned "motorcycle tires") were off-road tires. Soooo..... I made sure I bought Slime for "tires with tubes."

My intention was to use this stuff as a preventative measure; I planned to put it into my tires right away.... bought two 8 oz. bottles.

So I plug my new Signal Minder in, only to learn that you hafta go through all sorts of drama to benefit from the running lights feature.
- Strike two -

Getting ready now to deflate my tires, squirt the green goop in (Slime), and ready the electric tire pump. Read the directions first.....
"!WARNING NOT INTENDED FOR HIGH SPEED OVER THE ROAD TIRES, OR FOR SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 75mph/120kph"
- Strike three -

I'm outa there, came into the house to open a beer & lament. Strike four, no more beer.

I would only use slime in an emergency, just like it is intended, and fix/replace the tire or tube pronto. Problem is, many put it in and ride....and continue to ride because its holding air and seems fine. When the ingredients finally break down and you have a leak again is when the fun begins! (Think Nightmare) That stuff ends up coating the whole rim, if its aluminum it will start to corrode, and it tends to glob up and dry to an almost concrete like film. Very laborous to clean off. Been there, done that. Use it if you must, but don't be lazy like I and many others were and leave it in there :hammer:

And so I have been warned.......

- however -

(at least for my BonnieBlack) the stuff would be contained in an inner-tube, and the wheel isn't aluminum. I learned yesterday of it's corrosive properties.
