As some may recall from my post last week, I bought an 05 Thruxton. Due to being on a business trip, I was unable to take physical delivery of the bike until today. What a great 10 miles from the dealer to my office! Once at the office, the bike really drew a crowd, with almost everyone in the office coming out to take a look at the bike. I'm now headed home (17 miles), and looking forward to every mile of it. Sorry to gush, but I'm sure you all felt similar when you took delivery of your bike.

P.S. - If you haven't already, remove the "AI" A.S.A.P. !!!!!

Cyn:
My ride home was great. Had two people call me out in traffic and comment on the bike. One was a Thruxton owner that said he wished he was riding his instead of driving his Audi A6 home.

Regarding the removal of AI, I'm looking at getting a set of Specialty Spares silencers and a AI elimination kit very soon. Have looked at other silencers, but just don't know if I can justify another $600 this soon after getting the bike. I've read as much as I can find on the choices that I have (Predators vs. D&D vs. Specialty Spares), but other than the $'s and some slight db level differences can't see much difference.

I get looks and questions everyday. Enjoy it because I don't think it will ever stop. Most folks think it is a '60 something until you tell them differently.

Don't forget to make it your own! Do something different to it.

Enjoy your new bike, as others have said, it will only get better. Modified stock pipes sound quite nice. See my album under the t's and thruxton mods for instruction on pipe mods. have fun-thruxtonone

Get used to it. You're a celebrity now. Congrats and good luck with it.

Idaho,

Even if you don't swap the mufflers right away, yank the dang AI now. Get the kit from New Thruxton Dot Com It only 20 bucks or so. It'll keep your headers from bluing past the second bend. Really looks bad that way, IMHO!

Best part bout owning a new Boonie/Thruxton is the look on their faces when they ask "Wot Year's that" and yo tell 'em it's an '05.

Cheers, Cyn-

I picked up my Thrux on a rainy/foggy April morning. When the dealer asked me to bring the trailer around I just laughed and donned my rain gear. It was a great 15 mile ride home.

Only 10 to 15 mile ride from the dealer, I feel sorry for you. I was lucky enough to have a 143 mile ride home. Even better, it was a beautiful day but a little warm. :-D
