I was looking online and I happen to come across the new Norton Commando and I was wondering if anyone knew about the price and how easy they are to find..if you can even get them right now. The new Commando would look good next to the Thruxton.

The new Norton looks completely awesome! I remember reading that they were supposed to go for 25,000 to $30,000 and the waiting list was around a year. There was a spread in one of the motocycle magazines about a year ago, should be a sweet ride, bit too expensive for me.

From what I understand, they're in production on a limited run of maybe 100. These first few examples will have all the upgrades you can imagine, carbon fiber bits, ohlins suspension, etc... And as far as cost, I'm really not sure, but iit's probably one of those things where if you have to ask, then it's probably out of reach... The "ordinary" ones will be made after that.

The first 100, the Signature Series, were to be $20K and sold out already. The ones to follow were to be $15K, but I don't think any have been delivered yet. They are sweeet!

I think Id rather just have my 7000 dollar thruxton compared to the 20000 norton. They do look sweet though.

I saw the test mule at the Bike show last winter, the bike looked good. If I'd put a $10,000 deposit on one then, I still wouldn't have it, and I would have missed a summer rising.

IMO the New Norton smells a lot like the new Excelsior/Henderson Super X.

I checked it out last year at the bike show here in Denver. It was slick but 19k for first addition and 15k for regular production. NOT! I happen to see a new bike called a Thruxton....I bought one soon after. I've put 3k into my bike already and I am still not close the price of a Norton.

I'd be afraid to try to find parts. Do they even have anything after market? :???:

There hasn't been an update to the Norton site in months and there are several of the buyers from the first run (20+K) who are asking where the heck their bikes are. I loved the look, but that can't bode well for a company when they can't even deliver on the first 100 vehicles and don't have enough time to go onto the website and answer questions in the forum.

The bikes are in a off-shore bank account in the Cayman Islands. The reason the website hasn't been updated is the owner is too busy watching womens nude beach vollyball and drinking pina' coladas.

I must really be missing something, I watch those OCC guys roll out motorcycles.. it only seems to take them a couple days! The only thing you have to do is bend and weld a frame, hammer out some bodywork, and send it out to be painted. Then you wait for the UPS guy to deliver the forks, brakes, tires and engine then bolt it all together. If all the bikes are gonna be the same, 4 guys should be able to pump out 100 bikes a year no problem!

From the first time I saw the prototype 4 years ago I knew I wanted one and I maintain that I WILL own one, one of these days. That day is still a long way off, sadly.

The original promised delivery date was well over a year ago, the "updated" promised delivery date of the signature series bikes was about a year ago, and the now-pushed-out "probable" delivery date is about a year from now.

The "$15,000.00" models won't hit the street for another 2 years, in my estimation. If you were to extrapolate the progress to date from the original announcement, it would be even longer based on current progress.

The things that are delaying the 952 are:

1. Kenny Dreer's obsession with detail / perfection. This may be his downfall if depositors call him to task anytime soon.

2. The fact that the 952 is not a "clone" engine of the old 850 like the S&S engines are to HDs. NMA can't just pull a mill out of a box and slap it in a chassis with Mike and Vinny yukking it up for the camera. To produce a reliable engine that is cost-competitive (to a point where you can profitably sell even in small volume) takes lots of time, and lots of development money. The longer it takes, the more it costs.

Dreer's development bunch is likely outspending the deposit money flow by a huge factor and may spend themselves into extinction if they don't get a bike to a buyer pronto.

I WILL have a 952.
