I have a question about this Sharks bike. It looks like the rear of the bike sticks up higher than on my Thruxton. Is this just an illusion of the camera angle, or is it real? I really like the resulting "cab forward" look. If real, what's accomplishing it? Longer shocks in back? Bigger rear tire? Lowered in front? All three?

Looks like the combo of high pipes & no fender are creating the illusion. The shocks look stock.

I live in So. Cal and the guys I bought my bike from have been racing and customizing Bonnies and now Thruxtons for some thirty-odd years. I spent a little time on the phone this morning and he explained to me that other than avoiding the ground, these pipes are useless, the best-tested performance was coming out of the Predators. Other than looking cool and giving you more ground clearance, I didn't hear any big fans.
On a different note, for you Thruxtoners-I am thinking to go with a bigger back tire, like 150-the 130 looks pitiful, anyone care to offer their experience?

Lots of experience with these. Search the recent forums (the search term "rear tire" should do it) and you'll find some reviews.

Brent,
I see that the side covers need to be replaced. Are they included in the kit? Britone's look to be glass. The Thruxton racers are going to sh!t over these.
Say, can you work out a professional courtesy discount... friend, buddy, pal-o-mine?

a couple of us have gone 150's BT020's. it's a sport touring tire that i think fits well with the thruxtons girth and seriously sticks like glue.
i can't speak how the mileage will be but, other than a possible consideratino for the 140 avons, i wouldn't swap these for another.

I have 6500 miles on my BTO 020's the front looks like it could go another 6500 - the back is a now a racing slick. I'm going to put another on the back and try to wear out the front :-D . JCW
