PICKED up my thruxton the past weekend

Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you guys that I picked up my 2004 Triumph Thruxton this past Saturday and boy do I love this thing. I am a sportbike rider so this bike is a little different for me but I absolutely love it.

Here are a couple of pics:

Bike is super clean and sounds great. The only problem is that the previous own put on aluminum grips on them and now the throttle gets stuck here and there. I took it to a shop and they fixed it temporarily but it started happening again. They told me that if I wanted to switch back to regular grips, I would need to replace the inside of the clip on or the whole clip on since the previous owner damaged it.

Also the bike has triumph performance exhaust on and it seems to back fire here and there. Does this mean I need to get the bike rejetted?

Well glad to join the cafe racer club!

I've been noticing my bike bogging when I come to a slow down. I have a TP USA exhaust could it be that my bike needs to be rejetted?

Glad you are enjoying the Thruxton, it's also my personal favourite of the "new" Triumph range, hence why i bought one.
The high performance cans you mention are probably TORS (triumph original replacement silencers), i bought some second-hand a few weeks back, now it sounds like a "proper" Triumph...including a bit of popping back on the over-run.
I think my problem is that the TORS aren't sealing quite right at the pipe connection, a slight air leak, hence the popping.
I'll get around to checking mine on a Tuneboy soon, the weather has been terrible here lately, so i'll wait until i have more time to sort it out.

Congrats on the Thruxton!

Hope you got out on it a bit this past weekend.

The popping may be that you are running a bit lean. Try riching up your mixture a bit.

You will need a "D-tool" for this.

those pipes on your bike look like TORS to me, not dominators from TPUSA.

Hey there, congrats on the new Thrux ,looks great. I have TORs on mine and it pops and bangs all over the place! Personally I quite like it but would be interested in other riders experience. I had TORs on my previous Bonnie and that was the same...so maybe its just a TOR thing.
