Improved front brake ideas

I have a 04 Thruxton and want to improve the front brakes - I am seking for more feel rather than increased braking capability. I have a Beringer 4 piston front caliper - a good start. I doubt that new braided line would make a difference over the existing OEM braided line but keen to hear if people have found otherwise. I'm thinking I either need to buy a different front floating disk or a different front master cylinder. I have tried different pads so I have been down that route. I have also bled the lines and made sure their is no air bubbles. Has anyone noticed an improvement over OEM when replacing the front rotor/disk with say, an EBC unit? Otherwise any ideas for a different master cylinder? From memory I think some people have tried the Street Triple master cylinder?? any thoughts ideas, experiences would be helpful

I have the pre tech 6 pot and and a BRAKING 320mm front rotor off a nt650 honda, VERY good results, all who have ridden this bike love the front brake. The rotor was 225.00, caliper 450.00 with new braided line, and ebc HH pads. The rotor is a bolt on.

John, I have looked at your setup numerous times, very nice. I nearly purchased the Braking rotor a few times as I am not so keen on the blue and red hardware on the EBC rotor. Are you using the standard master cylinder with the 6 piston caliper? I contemplated the 6 piston Beringer however I was told I needed a master cylinder with a larger diameter bore

That looks like a nice setup you have. Can you send a link for the pretech caliper i am having trouble finding it.
Cheers John.

That makes sense to me. Bigger caliper holds more fluid.
I like your setup too Thrux-ton-up, I need brakes pretty soon... looking to upgrade. You know. For safety.

That's not a universal truth. The amount of fluid in the system is not as relevant as the amount of pressure that is created by the master cylinder. Brake fluid can be compressed, so sometimes less is more. On the other hand, more fluid helps with heat dissipation. It's a compromise either way.

For models with 1" handlebars (carb'd Bonnies, Americas, efi Thruxton), the Rocket III and Speedmaster M/C has a larger bore and crosses over. For 7/8" bars (efi bonnies and carb'd Thruxtons), use the M/C from any of the twin rotor sport bikes.

I don't recall what M/C John is using on his bike, but I'm using a stock Bonnie M/C (and EBC rotor) and never wanted for more front brakes.

/Mike

I use the stock master cylinder and it works just fine.

Cheers John.

I got mine from Mike at Bella Corse, you can also order from Pre Tech in England, but I'm not sure what shipping to the states would be.

For what it's worth the 6 piston pre tech JUST barely fits with the 3.5 X 17 front excel rim, Just. No issues with stock rims.
