First impressions of Works suspension

Mounted my Works Street Trackers last week. I got mine with ARS and threaded preload. They didn't really give me the "Wow, what a difference" response I'd hoped for. The ARS is nice, the four settings make a big difference in ride feel. Feels more planted in corners. The stock shocks aren't as bad as some bikes I've had, under sprung for my weight and a pain to set the preload, but not horrible until you start to push things.

Put the Works dual springs up front this morning, along with Spiegler lines. I went with 10 weight Belray at 143 mm, used Works longest cross over tube (I weigh 230 lbs) and a 2" spacer on top of the stack.

Riding out of town to my "Test Road," i thought the bike felt really stiff, maybe over sprung. Once I got to the twisties that changed! At a brisk pace, brake dive is WAY down, coming out of corners hard there is no more squat/ light front end. I felt like the stock springs would pack down under hard breaking then rapid cornering, that feeling is gone. The ride isn't as plush as before but the tires feel much more planted over rough pavement. The down side is that it feels a little harsh at easy cruising speeds or city riding. I think I will switch to the next shorter cross over tube and see if that helps. Putting the rear shocks at the softest crossover setting helped the rear.

All in all, a good improvement to a fun bike. I think the Works springs are a good bang for your buck. I've always run progressives in my other bikes but this seems to make more sense for my type of riding, and I like the fact that they are somewhat tunable. The people at Works were easy to deal with and did what they said they would do. Also, this being my first Triumph, I have to say how much fun it is to work on. All the fasteners are good quality and for the most part located where you don't need "special wrench #456-krt//1q" Electrical plugs are easy to get to, the bike sits nicely on my lift, things aren't crammed in like on many in line 4's and the engineering makes more sense to me than my BMW. Nice Bike!
Dave

P.S. Change your fork oil if you haven't already. 2000 miles on mine and it was battle ship grey with a fair amount of metal in it. Also the Spiegler lines helped brake feel at tad, previous owner had mounted Pazzo levers which I highly recommend. Having the levers right where you want them helps a lot with these clip ons.

Did you adj the sag with the preload in the rear shocks yet? that makes them alot better when you get it right.

I did. Have it as close to 1 1/2" in the back as I could get and about 1 1/4" in the front. More seat time and I'll get it dialed in, but this is Oregon and it'll pretty much rain for the next 6 months.

Probably need to adjust . Mine were perfect . If ou tell the guy your weight and how you ride he'll have you pretty much spot on.

I think I used the middle spacer in the front of mine .With the works set up you can play with the forks alot.I think you kinda got to play between preload and that top spring spacer to get her just right.
The rear on mine where real close with in a few turns on the preload.
