08 Thruxton AI removal

Hello,

After 5k on the bike I did the airbox removal kit from British customs and am in the process of trying to do the AI removal kit. The problem is that my bike seems to be different than most! Couple of questions for whoever might have the answers:

1.) From my reed valve the hose that usually runs to the airbox directly has a part in between that plugs in. Apparently according to BC it is a sensor and to leave it plugged in and just remove the hoses. Anybody know why my bike has that and no one else seems to have that?

2. The kit came with 4 caps and I don't honestly know what hoses i'm supposed to cap. Anybody have a picture or diagram that shows what to cap off?

3. I am running the TOR's without the airbox now with K&N filters. BC gave me 140 mains and a new set of pilots jets that I installed. Does 140 sound too high?

Thanks for anyone who might be willing to help out here. I know this topic has been covered a lot but I couldn't find the answers to my specific questions. I want to go riding and am sick of my bike being apart.

Go to Twins Technical section, "Great Source of Info" sticky and cruise the threads until you find the right one; it is all there - pictures and EVERYTHING!

On #1, that electrical part is a solenoid that shuts off the AI under hard deceleration. In previous models a vacuum line did that job. Anyway, there is no feedback, it's not a sensor. You can just unplug it and ziptie the plug to the rest of the harness under the tank.

On #2, you won't have anything to plug with the little vacuum plugs because, well, there is no vacuum line. Your stock airbox had a hole where the bigger hose from the AI connected. Now that the stock airbox is gone, there is nothing to plug there, either. Here is what came off an 08 Scrambler:

Thanks guys, both posts were very helpful. I used electrical tape and tied the plug to the frame and removed the solenoid. Not having to cap anything makes a lot more sense. Still wonder why I got four of the buggers though? Better to have parts left over I suppose. Now, I suppose I better spend some time look through the tech section to find out about carb setup. Thanks again.

Must be missing something here - each carburetor has one nipple on the carb and one on the intake manifold, yes? One cap for each, yes? That's what I have on my carburetted Bonneville.

Yeah, you're right. Got it done now. It isn't very complicated I just needed to see it so I went by my dealer and they had a Bonnie that had the AI removal done. The bike with the box removed and the AI injection removed rocks! I'm pulling hard up to red line now, perfect. Still getting some popping on the decelleration though. I was expecting to get rid of that.
