What is your favorite ride and why?
I always enjoy reading about other rider's favorite roads and rides so I thought I'd start this thread. My favorite ride is Maricopa Highway/Hwy 33 above Ojai California, then from 33 to hwy 166 over to Cerro Noroeste rd. Then over to Frazier park to refuel. Then I take Lockwood Valley rd back over to hwy 33 and home. What I like about 33 is that it takes you along the Sespe creek through high and low speed sweeps, staightaways and tunnels. There are areas along this road where people climb the vertical cliffs or sun bathe along the creek on large rocks. It takes you out of Ojai to the middle of nowhere.
There is a lot of chaparell and oak trees along the lower part of 33 that turns to pinion pines as you near the top. I usually ride this road during the week as it can get pretty crowded during the weekends. I rarely see law enforcement on this road which is a plus because I like to ride along at a pretty good clip.

This is a picture of me on hwy 33 with my 2008 T100 right after I bought it.

Another pic of my bike along hwy 33.
Once you reach the top of hwy 33 you come back down and are in the Cuyama Valley area. If you stay on 33 it will take you to highway 166. As you go through Cuyama valley you will see vineyards, junky old buildings and lots of straight road. I've gotten my bonnie up to around 112 mph along this stretch of highway. You can pretty much go as fast as you want. In the old days I'd get my GSXR up to around 150 mph along this stretch. I've never seen law enforcement along this part of 33 over the last 22 years of riding it. As I've said, this road T's off onto hwy 166. If you go left you have access to gasoline and lodging within a few miles. If you turn right you won't see any gas stations until you come to Taft or Pine Mountain Club. I usually turn right on 166 until I come to Cerro Noroeste Rd. This road is rarely traveled during the week. It takes you over to Pine Mountain club and Frazier Park. What I like about it is that it's flat and windy and so I can see far ahead when I'm going through the corners. This is a beautiful road/ride too. takes you through Pine Mountain club where you can usually buy gas. I say usually because last time I went through here they were out of gas and I had to ride over to Frazier park.
Frazier park is a really neat little town. It's almost like riding into the past. It's very small and I'm sure everybody knows everybody else. I'm sure they have monthly pancake breakfasts here at the fire dept.
Usually I'll stick around for a bit and have lunch. Maybe drop by the gun shop and look around and then start heading home. I take Lockwood Valley rd to get home. Be careful on this road because it is very tricky. Pay attention to the road signs and if a road sign says 10 mph, you had better slow down to 10 mph. I've seen lot's of bikes go down along this road. Right now there are 2 areas along this road that have been washed out. You do have to cross one river when going over this road during winter and spring. Once you hit the end it's back down 33 and home. As I live in the Santa Barbara area, this is a 250 mile ride for me. One of these days I'd like to do this ride and stop over in Ventucopa and stay the night at the Buckhorn and then finish off the second part of the ride the next day.
I usually make this ride a couple times a year. I also enjoy doing this ride with others so if you are interested, feel free to pm me and I'm sure I could find time to do this ride. Bob

I have a couple favorites.
Snickersville Pike to Lime Kiln Road is one of my favorites. The best part about Lime Kiln is there is large open spot where you can see the road all the way out, but it has a bunch of turns that makes it more fun. I have a video of me riding Lime Kiln on my youtube thingy... I posted it here a while back.
I also enjoy Harper's Ferry Road in MD and River Road along the potomac from Route7 south to Route50. Very nice road... Man, there are soo many good roads around here.
I think my current favorite is the one I am riding at the time I'm riding it, unless it is busy with cars, then it is the one that I hate the most.

The Bear Mt. Pkwy and across the Bear Mt. Bridge and Harriman Park is a good one. Watch the ride up the Mt to the Bridge though. it needs paving lately.

Too hard to decide.
Texas World Speedway, where I got my racing license in '07? First time ever on a race track, I later took my son's Ducati 900 Monster out on the high banks over 140 with my glasses rattling around inside my helmet...
The Sandia Classic at Albuquerque for my rookie race (2 fourth place finishes my first time out - number 111 here)?
Barber's Motorsports Park at the '07 season finale? A rookie beating the grid into turn 1 (#142) ...

Daytona in '08? (first time ever at the track in my life, finished 5th & 6th)
Legendary Road America in Wisconsin? (sorry, no pix) Unbelieveable track OVER 4 MILES LONG!
Grattan Raceway in Michigan? (only photo is a bit blurry) Everythig you can find all on one track- elevation changes, off-camber, blind stuff, a fly-over hump, LONG front straight...
The Bonneville Salt Flats, where I set the AHRMA class record on my scratch-built Bonneville?

Didn't get any pix at Roebling Road in Georgia, tight litle track and just one quick race, but fun and exciting with CLOSE wheel-to wheel racing on right-left-right-left-right-left-S T R A I G H T, repeat track.
Also didn't get pix at Miller Motorsports Park which is a possible tie with Barber's for best world-class racing facility in the U.S.
But maybe it had to do with the MUCH faster borrowed ride on a Formula 500 Kawasaki H1 500 triple that pretty much sealed the deal.
THE BEST RIDE, has to be Barber's in Birmingham, Alabama-
Wrapped up third place in the season championship in F500 there, a proud rookie season podium finish!

Love the classic races, just returned from the motogp at Phillip Island and they were a highlight.
Envious of your blast at Bonneville salt flats, would love a go at that. The racing looks like a lot of fun also.
cheers

GrandPaulZ, awsome stuff! I am just dying to get out on a track and do my thing. No cars, everybody going the same way, no speed limit. Fun stuff. So how much $ does it cost to go out on a track for the day? Thanks for sharing. Bob
