Best Free Mod Ever

I stumbled upon this mod the other day in an old thread.
Reposition the ugly, shiny horn from the front of the bike to under the tank. It's a very simple proceedure...

1. Remove tank and disconnect battery
2. Unscrew horn and disconnect wiring
3. Attach horn to location under tank where Reed Valve was attached before you did your AI removal
4. Reconnect wiring to horn
5. Reconnect battery
6. Install tank

The entire process takes less than 30 mins.

You may think the horn will loose some volume being under the tank, but I cannot tell any difference at all in the new sound.

I wish I could take credit for this mod, but I believe it was from an ole boy in Canada (I can't find the post now).
IMO, this really "cleans up" the front end of the bike.

Got my Thrux used with the AI already removed. Will the mount for the Reed Valve be plain to see?

Maybe not the best "free / No $$$ Mod" , but still pretty good.

Simply use the hardware that you pull off when you remove the AI system. Some adjustment is need, but it fits nicely under your tank.

Cleans up the front end

Old one, but a good one. See link

Thanks for the mod Red Rider

Thanks for the info Red Rider. I read your post last week and did the mod, but I couldn't seem to find it again to get your name and thank you.

Since we're talking horns, a quick question maybe someone will know the answer to. I've seen a number of "Aftermarket" Horns available, does anyone know the DB rating on the stock ones?

Will for sure do this as I hate the horn and reflectors where they are stock.

Unfortunitly my AI System was already off when I got Hamilton.

I decided to move the horn when I got my Cowl & Side Cover Bolts from TPUSA. Did the horn first. But guess what? The big nut that held the horn bracket to the frame was too large for threaded hole where the Reed Valve was mounted.

<Gomer Pyle voice on>Surprise! Surprise!<Gomer Pyle voice off> The old Slotted Side Cover Bolt fit perfectly. A little dab of Loctite... Yeah Bay-Bee! No more horn (well it is there but you can't see it) and a much cleaner front frame!

I prononce this modification Gunny Approved!
