Lucas Tail Light Help

Yes I did search and read many other threads, but could not find a solution. I can't call BC till monday.

I have an 09' EFI Thruxton. I got the British Customs Lucas style tail light and turn signal relocation kit. I installed the blinkers and tail light but cannot get them to light up properly. 3 out of the 4 blinkers work properly and respond to controls. 1 of the front indicators does not come on at all. The tail light does not light up at all. I've tried various wiring combos and check my fuses. I even checked the filament in the bulb.

For the tail light there is:

1 red wire and 1 black wire From the Lucas tail light

and

1 red wire and 1 blue wire from the Thruxton wiring harness

The brake light is the most important light. I can ride without turn signals and horn, but I need my brake light. Any ideas?

You should have 3 wires from the bike harness.
Blue- Brake hot
Red- Tail hot
Black- Ground
The Lucas light should also have three wires. They are probably the same colors as above.
Use a test light to a known good frame ground, test that blue harness wire goes hot with brake, and that red goes hot with ignition. (US always on)
Then use a meter to check that Black is a good ground. If no meter, run a temporary wire from the light fixture ground to a good frame ground, and see if the lght works.
Same with turn signals, check that Black is a good ground, and that the other wire at the fixture is hot at the appropriate switch setting.

Check the 5 w fuse - same thing happened on my 04 Thruxton with an after market tail light

"No, the lucas light only has 2 wires, 1 red and 1 black"

Then your light is missing a wire. There has to be a hot to each bulb filament, and a ground wire, as the mudguard is plastic. It can't ground to frame through the mudguard.

"Brake light now works, but the running light is still a no go."

This tells us you have a good ground, and one good hot. Check at the socket, there should be two wires coming out of the socket, plus the black ground attached to the base of the socket. Look at the setup on the OEM light.

Figured it out after a while. The brake light shares a fuse with the gauge cluster. I kept checking the fuse for the indicators. It wasnt until the sun went down that I realized my guage lights were out. Doh . Oh well. Gonna wash her this weekend and post some pics.

The British Customs lucas light comes with 3 bolts, all of which were too short. I used the existing hole from the stock lights and drilled two new holes below, like a triangle. I still need to get some black caps for the holes left by the stock setup.

Yeah, BC signal relocation kit as well. Much cleaner. I cringe now when I see the stock lighting setup :D

Upcoming on my minor mod list:

Fitting 1 or 2 air horns under the tank
Finding a better looking tank badge
Replace stock mirrors with some black Rizoma mirrors
Black gauges
Black headlight bucket
