Call me a wuss..I can take it...but my boney bum can only take so much.

So, what alternatives are out there that folks have tried and can recommend...Gel pads to Corbins, tell us your experiences and recommendations.
Thanks!

there are two

(1) sargeant seat is reported as a bit better. must send in seat and wait 3 weeks.

(2) gel seat. $250 and a bit better.

so far i am just moving myself back in the seat for longer rides, and only coming up into the sweet spots for real riding.

Does Corbin or the aftermarket make an alternative to the stock Thruxton saddle that allows for mounting of the stock plastic cover? I've looked and can't find anything.

I looked around too, and I think if you want to keep the seat cowl you have to stick with Triumph (i.e., the gel seat). Corbin has a sort-of cowl thing, but it's not as good looking as the Triumph bits IMO.

On my Thrux I've got a Corbin 'gunfighter & lady' (designed by Corbin for the Bonnie but fits the Thrux nicely) that works great. Caveat: it's width makes for a longer reach to the ground for the short-legged amongst us.

The Corbin seat is a little firm, but a big improvement over stock. It's supposed to get more comfortable after it breaks in (2,000 miles).

I had a Corbin on my old Sprint ST, and I can vouch that it took my comfort level from a 100 mile ride (stock) to 500 miles (corbin).

That being said, I'd love to know whether or not the new Corbin Bonneville Smuggler Smuggler Link would fit on a Thruxton. It seems like the rear storage would be AWESOME for those of us that use the Thrux for commuting,

Well, I actually cut the padding down and did 300 miles on sunday with no ill effects whatsoever. I can flat foot the bike now and the bars feel alot better.

I have put Turk6681's corbin smuggler on my thrux and it fits fine - just like the gunfighter and lady I had which I sold to Turk6681 - ( he has a lot of seats for his bike). It looks great on the Thruxton. JCW

Aerostich/Riderwearhouse has a little sheepskin cover thing that might work. And I don't think it would look Gold Wing-y...they also sell those buttpad biker shorts, and anti-monkey butt powder (a product I've never needed, but always wanted to buy just for the name).

Aerostich Comfort Stuff

Hey, speaking of Gold Wings, --how about Depend undergarments (ya know, the ones you can whiz in?). That would give you some bootay padding AND eliminate the need to make some stops. Now, if we can just get the in-ride refueling thing going...
