I am loving the new bike and getting into the various mods to give it a more defined classic look, but the lack of storage space on the bike has got me down. Did a search and found only a couple of references and info on tank bags as I am slowly tiring of the back pack. What I am looking for is a reference to a good/great tank bag (preferably magnetic - but all info is appreciated!).

Thanks!

I purchased the Triumph tank bag listed in the Thruxton accessory catalogue.

It's kinda sucky as tank bags go. It comes with a leather pad that straps to the tank...then the tank bag connects to the leather pad with quick release tabs. The pad has a cut out for the gas cap.

The carrying capacity is limited by its triangular shape necessitated by the bike's tear drop tank. I can't seem to get the hang of adjusting the leather pad as, the tank bag keeps wanting to slide off to the right. The only thing that keeps the leather pad from sliding off is the gas cap.

The map window is so small that maps have to be folded into tiny shapes to fit it.

Another oddity...there seems to be a wad od shipping paper wadded up in the bottom of the tank bag. It seems to be sewn in between two layers so, there's no way to get it out. I dunno if the wad of paper is there for some purpose (a cushion? ) or it was left in by mistake during manufacturing.

I purchased a Cortech mini mag bag. It fits fine between the gas cap and seat. it is not very large so it doesn't get in the way when you lay on it to get down low. The map pocket is a good size for me ( slightly smaller than a regular sheet of paper). it comes with a removable shoulder strap, a rain cover and safety tether. The magnets stick to the tank pretty well. I haven't had a good cross wind to test the magnets. The quality seems very good on this product.

There are lots of terrific Tank Bags out there:

http://motorcyclecloseouts.com/prod_....asp?ManId=175

The Joe Rocket Manta is small, but cool looking. My wife and I are looking for tank bags as well, and we are going to shop around for them this weekend.

If storage space is what you are looking for, check this out:

This is also a good source for tank bags:

Good luck with the search.

I am using the dedicated Triumph tank bag, and it suits me fine! I prefer it to the magnetic ones which, sooner or later, will damage the paint........

I have a Marsee 11 litre Rocket Pocket that I'm using. It's small enough for daily use, but big enough for when you need a little extra. It's also zipper expandable, but I haven't needed it yet. The bag was not cheap, but I bought it for my Sprint ST (strap on). When I got the Thruxton, I called Marsee to order a magnetic base (the bases zip on and off and are interchangeable) and they were super to deal with.
