my pathetic attempt at a cafe seat.

well ive been wanting to try and make a seat for a while and finally went for it. i borrowed a thruxton cowl from rodburner as a mold for my seat hump. the hump came out great. then i molded the seat pan and glassed the two peices together.

i still need to reinforce the hump with a couple layers then glass it in so i have storage.

i might just bondo the hell out of it and use it for a mold. the seat will bolt up on the two bolts for the tank and i still need to figure out the rest.

criticism of the constructive nature would be greatly appreciated.

its got some potential is the area where you sit going to be long enough to get over the tank?

Not too shabby, fiberglass is not an easy thing to work with.
It seems that the glass did not get wet enough, sort of looks a bit dry which in trun can make it hell of brittle. Dont forget to always put a layer of resin over the finished product to seal it - we used to call it glassing.
I actually want to make a seat as well, but I want one that is not so wide and a much smaller cowl - any takers?

Looks pretty good... a bit of paint and a decent clear coat will finish it off pretty nicely.
Gotta give you big kudos for even breaking out the effort. I know I'd be pretty timid trying out something like that.

Look forward to seeing the finished product when you give it a coat.

The shape looks spot on. When you have the seat in place and all the finish work done, it'll be a cool bit of customization. Congrats!

looks great. We can always stretch some padded vinyl over the hump to save on sanding.

it still needs some major reinforcing in the hump section. but altogether came out ok. when i laid that first fiberglass mat i thought to myself.. "what am i getting myself into!" its a real mess until its dry. well worth it though.
