So tonight i'm ridding my bike to my parents house for dinner. Its about 630pm... rather dark...i'm riding down the road at about 45mph no cars... in the distance i see a small deer... i slow down to about 35... deer looks up and turns around going off the road to the left of me...as i approach the deer turns around and walks right towards me from my left... In effort to get out of the way i vear to my right... he continues...at this point i'm in an accident...i grab my handlebars and baaaammmm the deers head hits my knee (from my left)... i stay straight... collision sounds like a knock out punch... in shock i turn the bike around to look for the deer... the deer is laying down in the grass looking at me...as i rush for the phone in my back pack i very calmly call my mom (a veterinary technician) concerned about the deer...while on the phone the deer gets up and runs off....
Its now several hours later i'm still in shock with some adrenaline still running through me... my knee is stiff and i'm not looking forward to how it will feel in the morning... Bike is mint... looks like the deer and i while have some pain in the morning.
What I find unbelievable is that deer have managed to survive this long as a species when they are so ****ing stupid. Darwin has some explaining to do!
Yes it's the time of the year for the rut in my area. Deer act all kindsa crazy. A good reminder to be extra vigilant. I've seen alot of dead deer roadside in my area.
