New Rebuild-Won't start (T100C)

69 T100C New engine rebuild, has good compression, when trying to kick start it pops and gas spurts out of the carb going to the filter and wont turn over. Im checking into the manuals for
troubleshooting right now but would appreciate any advice/expertise
Thanks

When you say it pops and gas spurts out into filter are you talking about liquid or vapours.
If it's liquid how much is spurting out ?
Do not try and force the engine to turn over.
Check you float valve is working and the float hight is correct.

If it's vapours
Double check ignition timing and make sure you have the right plug leads going to the right plugs i.e. make sure your not 180º out.

Also check valve timing and valve clearance if the above does not help.

I had a similar thing happen on the monobloc i used to have on my T100. It was pretty worn...I found the best slide i could for it. it still would leak gas out of the air filter..
I actually shot a flame out of the carb at one point when i was trying to get it started.
everyone told me to stop messing with the monoblocka and buy a concentric so thats what i did

Do you have a monoblock or a concentric carb fitted ?

If it's spitting out liquid then your needle valve is not working, there could be a number of reasons this is happening. The valve itself has had it, the float could be punctured, the distance piece (spindle bush) on the float bar could be missing ( monoblock carb only) float hight is set incorrectly or you could have crap in the float bowl not allowing the valve to shut off.

The slide only lets air through and a worn slide will let too much air get mixed with the fuel this results in a lean (weak) mixture which in turn makes for difficult starting.
