Hello
Since the chrome looks pretty aweful on my rear shocks, I've been browsing around the internet for some replacements.

Is there something different about rear shocks for the Bonnies AFTER 68? That seems to be referred to often.

Isn't the bolt hole size the same? (3/8ths) Differences in the length, eye-to-eye?

thanks
"HOPOIL"

i don't know about triumphs, but i put a pair of 883 sportster shocks on my 70 bsa lightning 650. since tri and bsa use the same shocks, i bet the shock brackets are the same. i had to grind down (bench grinder) the rubber grommets and the metal insert collars/bushings about a 1/4 inch on both sides for them to slip into the slots. they are pressed in so i figured leave them in, they're not going anywhere.

the bolts are a bit smaller on the bsa but the way the shock seats are designed they can't move once they're in there.

they are 3 way adjustable and are chrome and have chrome caps. they are good shocks and my ride is much better. my old shocks were the orginals and very worn cosmetically and functionaly.

they look good and were cheap on ebay, about 26 bucks or so.
i found this info out on the brit bike forum where some guys have used different shocks. i figured, they're cheap, if they don't work, no big deal. sportster shocks are on there a lot i think beause guys lower their bikes...

i have mine on the middle setting and i weigh 220 lbs. the stiffest setting raises the bike noticably. they look very nice.

I put Progressives on my '76.
We can actually ride without having our spines compressed on every bump.
Worth a look.
