1969 Triumph T100CH 500

I've found an old Triumph in my local craigslist and am considering buying it. It's been kept inside since 1972 but hasnt been started in 5yrs. I'm wondering what exactly the CH means in the T100 designation, I'm wondering if this would be considered a Tiger? The seller is asking $600 and I've honestly got no idea what it's really worth but that seems like a potential bargain. If nothing else perhaps I could clean it up and make some money on it and buy a newer triump, always had my eye on an big ol' Trophy 1200

Please help me out w/ any info on buying an old triumph, especially the costs, and value on this find as I shouldnt really be looking at it

T100C is the model--Daytona.

The H is the first letter of the serial number.

If you don't want to keep it, don't buy it. By the time you fix it up, you won't want to let go, and you'll never get that Hinckley thing you want. In fact, it's probably best to let me handle it

ok , you're both wrong , t100c is a trophy , t100r is the daytona and t100s was the tiger .

there was also a t100t daytona tiger .

a little rough for a bike that supposedly was only ridden for 3 years then garaged . worth $600 sure up to maybe $1200 or so if the motors ok .

how mechanically inclined are you ? it's going to take a bit of work to make it worth a bunch more .

btw those are the wrong pipes for a t100c .

theres a picture of what that bike should look like here plus an explanation on the various t100's . http://www.thewebgal.com/bikes/500twins.html

I'd figured out it wasnt a daytona but couldnt figure out what model it was, the incorrect exhaust was really throwing me off. Thanks for the info. I am fairly mechanically inclined, this may be a little above my skill set but with the help of my dad I'm sure would could get it taken care of. I think I'll likely pass on it though considering all the parts missing in the pictures, exhaust, gauges, front fender etc. It may cost as much to replace the missing parts as the bike, never mind all the new parts that simply need to replaced to make it a safe functioning bike again. So very tempting though!

I'm not arguing; Woody's probably right, as there is a lot of confusion about these models. But I found T100C to be a daytona at this often cited website [http://www.ianchadwick.com/motorcycl...h/models.html]. I guess I won't be using it anymore.

Could this be confusion between UK/US names for the same bikes?

I also noticed they say the Adventurer/Trophy Trail was a BSA B50 engine in a T100 frame, which is backward.

I guess that's what I get for using the Internet as a research source.

thing is owning a vintage triumph is a labor of love and if you were really looking to get into one that bike would be a great start for a restoration . looks mostly there and if the motor's in reasonable condition (regardless it would have to come apart) i'd jump on it for $600 . however thinking you'd be able to just polish it and turn it over for a big profit , that ain't gonna happen .

if it was closer to me , it'd be in my garage right now . ok well right now it'd be under a tarp in my back yard because theres no room left in my garage lol

yea bonnevillian , that link you just posted is a real hodge-podge . as for the t100 suffixes i was quoting from my factory service manual .

the 500's aren't as well known as the 650/750's . great bikes though .
