Two questions on the primary side

These may have been asked before, if so I apologize I couldn't find them, if not here they are. The bike is a 1971 650 tiger.
(1) Is there any sure way to check the oil level in the primary case?
(2) The plastic plug coming out from the primary has started leaking
oil now, should I try and replace it or seal it with something? I'm
pretty sure the previous owner had it sealed and it fell away. I
don't know what it would have been.
Thank you

There should be two plugs in the primary cover towards the back. The upper one is the "fill level" and the bottom one is the drain/primary chain tightener. You workshop manual should have info on the correct amount of oil to put in there.

I don't know of any way to actually look in there and see how much oil you have. If you unsure, drain it all out and refill it. I think it should take about 350cc but check with the manual.

1/4 cup of the same oil that goes in the engine.

RTV on the cleaned area where the alternator lead comes out; let dry thoroughly.
