Trying to get to the gearbox seal....

I have the primary cover off and now I have to get the clutch and chain off. I do not have a tool for the 3 "pips" holding the clutch on. I am assuming those are the 3 I have to take off to remove the clutch assembly? Do those things just screw out? The manual says to hold a screwdriver behind them and turn them out with the tool.

yes that is what those are

they can be a little tricky to remove...if you can get a screwdriver that you can part with...a big slotted...and dremmel a small notch in it...youve made the tool that the manual is talking about...yes they turn lefty loosy...righty tighty

Large screwdriver to undo the slotted nuts, and a smaller one to move the spring back off the small lug on the back of the nut head each revolution of the head.

Then you'll need to take the plates out, take the centre hub nut /washer out, using a puller take the centre hub off the tapered shaft, and then take the primary drive sprocket, primary chain and clutch outer basket off (all together). Alternator stator and rotor off before you take the primary sprocket off.

When you take the clutch outer basket off, watch out for the 20 individual rollers - they tend to go to places unknown, so put a rag underneath to stop em rolling away.
