Question 1967 chrome bonneville (please help)

Thank you for reading this. I have always loved the old Triumphs but never had 1 until now. I run a small motorcycle and auto sales lot in NC and I have just acquired a solid chrome 1967 bonneville or I think it's a bonneville. I have not been able to find out anything about an all chrome bike online and I was hoping someone here could help me. The bike is in great shape for a unrestored bike. The chrome tank has started to discolor a little but not enought to rechrome. The bike has 13900 miles and runs like a new bike.
Can anyone help me out with the value and what it is that I really have if it is truly a rare find or just a common bike. Once again Thank You for any help someone can give. Terry

Hi Southwind, you've got to give us a bit more to go on than "it's a chromed Bonnie.... I think" Engine / frame numbers will be a good start. Any pictures? I guess you want to sell it?
Roy.

If you are asking whether it's some kind of rare model, I'm afraid it's not.

Somebody with a chrome fetish went crazy on it, they never came from the factory like that.

I would be concerned about hydrogen embrittlement on the frame, but that's just me

Sounds like it would be a pain in the @$$ to clean every week.

more info

Thanks for the replies. I have to leave town this weekend due to death in family so I will put pics on here next week. The bike is in original condition matching numbers bike. The tank, fenders, and side cover are chrome the frame is not. It has factory speedo and tach and amp guage. The seat has been recovered to orignal specs and tires are time date tread. it is supposed to be factory chrome or so I was told, but if not its still one sweet ride and runs like a top. Thanks for your answers and your time. Once again I will post pics next week. I had a older man look at it yesterday and said it looked all factory but he had never seen one with the chrome tank. Is there anywhere that can run the vin on this bike for me. The bike may or may not be for sale at a later date. Thank you

If it's really a '67 Bonnie, it is certainly devalued by having been chromed.

If it runs as good as you say it does, at least it has the basic value of a running, "dry-framed" (pre-71) Bonnie, and as such, maybe $3,500.00 if the engine 7 frame numbers match.

That value can be tripled be stripping and repainting or powdercoating the chassis & cycle parts in Black, and repainting the tank in Aubergine (eggplant purple) and White as per original.

Welcome to the forum!

We must have posted at nearly the same time!

If the chrome is as limited as you say, the value is possibly higher.

Re-painting the tank is advised, as well as the sidecover (and, I assume, the oil tank opposite side).

The fenders are not as significant, although they SHOULD be polished stainless steel as original.

Repainted, the bike might be worth anywhere from $5,000 to $7,500. if totally restored, upwards of $10,000.

Europeans are now buying bikes from the U.S. at near previous premium prices as a good value when buying with currencies other than U.S.Dollars.
