Or you could get both, ride them for a while and give us detailed comparison as to rideability, dependability, cost to maintain etc. etc.

It looks to be a stock front end, Also you can get a new axle cape on line from "Commando specialties" real nice looking high polished billet T6 aluminum, much stronger than the triumph casted ones...for $50. apair or you can try Rabers.

I say go for the '70 Tiger...(I'm biased) Get whichever one...I can give you any advise that I have learned from the 1970 Tiger. (I like the simplicity of a stock single carb, no airbox or Oil in Frame plumping. 1970 was the last of the Classic aesthetic. Drum brakes (whick work really well, BTW) so there is no fluid to dick with. Just FWIW, the color and seats are not stock on the Tiger you posted. The tank/Fenders are supposed to be green (Spring Gold) with black stripes, gold (painted) pin striping. Good Luck!

Well I went out and took a look at both bikes. Both sounded like they needed a little work most likely nothing more then a carb cleaning and a few other little things. I really liked both bikes until I sat on them. I don't know how to put it but it kind of felt like i was trying to sit on a tricycle. Ok that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I could tell pretty quickly that I would not be comfortable on the bikes.

I went to a local bike show with a friend of mine who is an avid rider a few years back. I sat on all most every bike that was there. It was very difficult to find one I was comfortable on. The one that I sat on for 15 minutes and loved was a Kawasaki 1100CC sport bike. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am pushing 6'4".

I went to the local Triumph dealer and sat on a new Bonneville as well and had the same reaction. The salesman who was helping me out told me to take a seat on the America. That was more comfortable but the weight was a bit much and to be honest the style was not to my liking.

Well for now the search continues for a bike,

Thanks for the help everyone and I apologize if I did go a little off topic.

Ronin, I'm 6'3" and when I ride my Tiger I definately feel like I'm sitting upright pretty high. Honestly this doesn't bother me. Maybe because I've never ridden anything else other than my 70 TR6. For the short trips I take, it fine. I wouldn't want to go cross country, or cross the county for that matter.

Keep looking and get the bike that feels right for you.
