Cold Quiet

Finally managed to put some serious miles on my newly acquired 5TA, once it was hot I noticed a ticking noise that wasn't present when the engine was running from cold. It appears to be coming from the timing case........any ideas? it's a bit subjective I know but any theories would be welcome.

Hi. I am not familiar with a model 5TA? Enlighten me. I don't know what the noise is but if it happened to my bike I'd take the small timing cover off and see if a screw is loose.....other than that....noise travels from the point of origin sometimes. Put a large screwdriver to the case and the other end to your ear and then the other side and sometimes you can hear its location better. Other than that I'm sure more experienced riders will help you soon. Let me know re the 5TA though. Pochie

Primary chain or rear chain too loose?

Just a place to start: Jim

I've been reading and searching this and wonder if it's the oil pump sliding block? when worn does this make a ticking/tapping noise?
