the tanks are already vented . my concern would be with putting what comes out of a vent pipe back into the oil .

it's usually an emulsion of oil , combustion gas crud and moisture .

Why do you think it's the oil pump? I thought it might be that cause it is a dry sump system and very little oil should be in the crankcase. So I figured that the pump was letting oil accumulate in the crankcase causing it to blow it out the vent. I'm not sure.

All the tanks have an anti froth tower for venting the return oil, so there is no problem.

Answered your own question there, Davetile. If the residual oil level is high, there can only be two reasons for this. Firstly, the pick up pipe in the sump has fallen out or secondly and more likely, the scavenge side of the pump can't move it quick enough. Add to that the pressure side being worn and allowing by pass while the bike is standing, you will initally get oil / emulsified oil on first start up from the breather. Another thought........... has the gasket for the oil pump been fitted incorrectly, covering a port??????
