So, This afternoon I brought home a 1971 T100R, complete, unmolested, original rolling project, right up my alley...

Cheers,
Rob

Roy,
Does the mention of Coventry mean that I am mistaken with the "Meriden" venue of build...? Educate me please, I hate being the dummy all the time...

So how did you pin-piont this excellent information...? The day that it was built... How awesome is that...?!?!

While we're at it, can you elaborate on the "For personal export" statement...? Military person or a tourist that bought it, toured about on it and sent it home maybe..?

I wonder if there is a way to establish the entire ownership of such a motorcycle...? I norlmally would not care as much however, this one is going to stay here with me. I have let the others slip away and I want ot keep one...

Thanks much,
Rob

I'll answer one part of your request. Coventry was the original city of manufacture for Triumph, starting, I believe, in 1902. The factory was destroyed when Coventry was bombed during the Blitz. Meridan was where the operations moved to. So, pre-war bikes would be Coventry and post-war bikes are Meridan, as far as our "classic" ones are concerned.

On the money there Jim, but don't forget the WAR TIME PRODUCTION, 3SW, 3HW, built at the "Tin Tabernackle" in Warwick before moving to the new Meriden factory at Allesley.

Yeah, I must have had a brain cramp as I knew the rough time lines about Coventry and Meriden however, the comment regard to being dispatched to Coventry I guess threw me off the track.
Sent me looking into the reference material. Good to pore over those books.

Funny, while going to pick up the T100R Sunday I rode through towns like Warwick, Coventry and others that contributed the feel of driving through England, how appropriate ...

Thanks,
Rob

Dagad.......OOPS, a bit of brain flatulence, that's all.

This getting old(er) is definitely not for the young: Jim
