I went and looked at a derelict T160 today, all the pieces are there, but pretty rough. Should I get involved in this or run the other way. I do all my own work on my old bikes now. (only twins, never had an old triple). The price seemed fair (less than 1,000) and I think it would would run another 3,000 for the basics if I dont do the paint myself, (and I would definately send it out to Blake in Vista, Calif). The motor is seized but was running when parked. All the original parts are there but everything is grim, rust and rot. Go for it or run away fast?

martin: That is another one of my dream bikes! If you don't want it pm me the guy's phone number and I'll see if I can buy it. Does it come with a clean title? If not, a potentially big problem. Good luck!

I re read an article in Classic Bike Guide on a Rocket 3 where they talk about how many people who are fair twin mechanics get into a triple and have big trouble. It was a little breath of reality. Then I looked at the bike in glorius color on page 50-51 of Twins and Triples by Remus. I have a good friend who has helped in the past and who has three motors currently racing in AHRMA, (see "Gary Nixon rides again" this forum). I am sure he will help but I know I always break one of everything the first time I get into it. I was thinking if I did this I would spend 3,000 for paint, powder coating, chrome and new parts. Past experience says double whatever I say. Surely it wouldn't cost much more than 3,000 to do this bike well, would it? Oobaby, I will watch for a deal for you, but right now it feels like this one has my number.

martin: Cool, go for it! At that price or less I don't see how you'd get hurt too badly even if things really go south and you have to bail. Good luck!

Agreed on a price, will pick it up today. The title is supposed to be clear but in storage. I may get it in the mail as promised, I may have to do the lost paper work, or even salvage title. Not a problem for me, problem will be for my kids when they try to sell it.
