Oil Filters
I got one of the oil filters from MAP. Where do you guys mount yours? The catalog and tech form MAP told me to mount it on the passenger peg, but I'd like to hide it on the down tube if possible.
Also what do you use to mount it?

Hi, Quag...
It mounts very nicely on the rear downtube of the main frame, just under the saddle. I used a couple of chrome muffler clamps and a strip of old inner tube, to protect the paint on the frame. A fairly straightforward job, using automatic transmission hose for lines (NOT FUEL LINE) which I connected into the original hoses, for looks. It's pretty well hidden and you can change the element by opening the saddle and wrapping a paper towel around the top to prevent any oil from dripping down as you remove the element. Speaking of the elements, they are going up in price at a fast rate, so grab some when you find them (hopefully at a decent price)!
See you at the meet (?): Jim

Thanks Jim. I bought an extra filter at $5.00. See you in a few weeks.

Hey, Quag........
$5.00???? The last ones I bought were at least $8 to $10 each, or something like 3 for $20.00.
See you at the meet: Jim

Not sure if this will work for a TR6, but on my 1970 T100C, this is by far the best location, out of the way and not even noticeable. It barely clears , but it fits. It mounts on the down tube which on the T100 is the same size as the oil filter.
Check out the photobucket link for drawings of my mount. I had one extra made and will sell it for $60 plus s&h, only ship to the USA though. contact me if interested or check out the link to have your own made.

BTW I'm not using the copper line for the oil, used high pressure hydraulic lines.

WHOA, love the copper tubing, but today the tubing is probably worth more than the oil filter!
Nice job. When I get the filter I'll check out how it fits and maybe take you up on the bracket.

Yep, that's the way to do it. Using black rubber hoses for the whole installation makes it a bit less noticeable, though.
Simple and effective: Jim

Yeah I had copper tubing on it but some meth head stole it...
But seriously the rubber is better, or stainless braided hoses for look. W/ the vibrations of the engine copper might fail, well at least I think it might.
