That appears to be unit construction??? What are the engine and frame numbers? Please post more photos’s of the front and back end. Looks good so far, and need to see the finished product. That also appears to be a later frame???

5TA is written before the engine number.

"Triumph re-entered the 350cc class in 1957 with the introduction of the Twenty One, the first of a new range of unit-construction twins."
http://www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/1214499944
Seems unit construction starts from 1957, one more thing to tell that when i open the clutch cove, i see 59 written in a round circle, does it mean its a 1959 production or what.
My papers says 1958 but since there were no computerized motor registration department back in those days and everything written by hand, possibilities are on higher side for a written mistake.

Something is not making sense to me? What is the cc's?
Triumph - Twins 1950 - 69 Year Engine No. Unit 350 & 500cc Engine No. Pre-Unit 500 & 650cc
Engine & frame numbers on these models were all the same & were preceded by the model code. The N suffix was used in 1950 & NA for 1951/2. 350/500 twins all used an H prefix. The 650 models with the duplex frame used a D prefix & unit 650 duplex used a DU prefix. Additional suffixes were used to designate model type or condition eg. TT (model type), C (high compression) or P (police). Some of these only appeared in certain markets.

Triumph Twins, Triples & Singles - 1969-1983 Letter Month Model Year
During 1969 a new number system was introduced which used a two-letter prefix indicating month & year, followed by the model type & the serial number. The first letter is the month, the second the year. This system used the Triumph model year not calendar year, which ran from August of the previous year to July of the current year. From July 1980 a third letter A was added to allow the system to keep going. Many model types included a V which designates a 5 speed gearbox.
For example: T140V HK12345 - is a 5 speed T140 model built in July of model year 1974/75.
Also; T140E NDA12345 - Is a T140E model built in October of model year 1982.
A January Aug 1978 - July 1979
B February Aug 1979 - July 1980
C March Aug 1968 - July 1969
D April Aug 1969 - July 1970
E May Aug 1970 - July 1971
G June Aug 1971 - July 1972
H July Aug 1972 - July 1973
J August Aug 1973 - July 1974
K September Aug 1974 - July 1975
N October Aug 1975 - July 1976
P November Aug 1976 - July 1977
X December Aug 1977 - July 1978
KDA 1981 models Sept 1980 - Apr 1981
EDA 1982 models May 1981 - Jan 1982
BEA 1983 models Feb 1982 - Jan 1983
T140V AEA34393 - Last model Jan 21st, 1983
Harris Twins - 1985-1988 Year Engine & Frame Number
The easiest of the lot. The numbers were used for both Bonneville & Tiger models irrelevant of model type. 1985 FN000002 - FN000191
1986 GN000192 - GN000788
1987 HN000789 - HN001176

Bushy,
Jan's got nothing to worry about. Most of think of preunits being the norm until 1963 when the 650's went over to unit construction. What is less commonly know is that they borrowed this technology from the smaller bikes so a unit constriction engine on this bike is completely correct.
Good work Jan. I can't wait to see the finished project.
