Not Triumph, but I know you'll like it...

I know it's not a Triumph, but this transformation is something all old bike lovers can appreciate-

I acquired the chopper about 3 years ago, stripped it in a couple of hours and it sat ever since. I picked up the frame
on e-bay around 2 years ago, and had it powdercoated, then it sat on the shelf ever since. Over that time, I've been
gathering Norton bits from various swap meets, e-bay, forum friends, and serendipity.

29 days ago, I finally put the frame up on the bench and got started on it, then tore the engine down and sent the jugs
for boring. It's been about 60 hours in the shop with it, and it lacks just the lighting and cosmetics to be ready for the road.

The bike will be for sale after next week, probably in the $7,500 range in Black, $8,000 in Red with the Corbin seat.

Well done!

Fantastic!
I am impressed!
Big time!
I re-built my '79 Bonnie mechanically and have kept it a 'relic' cosmetically.
I know how much work went into that. So, I can only imagine what you put into this pup!

The question begs to be asked: What in the world was going on in the mind of the person who made it into that abomination in the first place??

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder.......but not in that case: Jim

Excellent job, GPZ - can't believe the price you want for it - equates to ONLY £4000 (ish) Sterling

Looks like an early model (20MS engine no.??)

£4000 for a Commando is about the going rate (in the UK) these days.

To have the foresight to take that "thing" and bring it back to life is absoultely amazing to me!

Paul, you need to advertise some before and after shots to show off your work. Amazing job.

Unfortunately, the new Nortons never reached production. Kenny Dreer of Vintage Rebuilds (the man and company in charge of the new ones) ran out of money in March of 2006, and Kenny resigned form the Norton Board of Directors in July 2007.
So we are left with a gorgeous machine that will never see my garage...

An article about it- http://www.cycleworld.com/article.as...article_id=424

Paul, GREAT JOB!!! I can't say that I would have had the vision for the finished masterpiece looking at that initial hunk 'o junk. If only I had $8000 lying around.
