'68 Bonnie

Hi guys, first time on this page, and I presume with a very commonly asked question.

I was Just looking at a 68 Bonnie today. It was jacaranda purple, silver with gold pinstripe, the engine and frame No. are T120 DU78927. Is this correct for a '68 650 unit construction Bonnie?

It's mechanically sound, needs a bit of detailing. The bloke is asking $9,000AUD and I'm considering It. What do you guys think?

Do you have an engine prefix? T120 or T120R does the frame# match

American or british spec? the US models had 21/2 gal tanks, painted in one colour (hi-fi scarlet with a 2 or so inch stripe down the center, stainless front and rear guards
Brit ones had 4 gal two tone tank, (hi-fi scarlet and silver) tank rack, painted guards

Yep that number is correct for a 68 check the frame matches the 67 models did have purple tank top

Cheers

I don't know if that's a good deal without seeing pictures and knowing with authority the bike and engine's history.

I DO know that it's been repainted; those are not original colors. That fact is unimportant, bikes can be repainted!

High price

I think that is pretty much top dollar for that bike. It should have been rebuilt/restored almost 90-100%. The engine and frame #'s should match and you should look at all receipts. I paid $8600 a few months ago and the bike is in my estimation 90% perfect. There will always be another cycle. Good luck!
