The bike is still dying if I let it hit under 1000 rpms but now I figured how to adjust the idle and will try doing that when I get home tongiht.

Hi,

my .02 cents:
If you don`t know where to start get going from scratch.
In this order:
Checking valves - ignition - and at last the carbs (which includes looking at the manifolds eg. as well...)

I need to mention it because JUST yesterday I adjusted an ignition on a guy`s ole Harley which he claimed he did already (Bike was not running ok since last September and he bought a brand new carb in the meanwhile and was wondering that the bike ran crappy. Since last September !!).

Looks great! I think you got a good buy.I'm sure you'll get the mechanical issues sorted out in due course.

Well, that looks like a real "keeper". Be patient. You're off to a good start. It's all about being a "marathon" NOT a "sprint". I always wanted one of those beasts, but could never find one worth buying. They were always "butchered" with Mikuni's, etc. THAT's a NICE one! You'll get it. If not , I'll give you 550 for it! (Are we "bidding?)
