I'm drilling the rear hub on my triumph & gonna fit a grease nipple so,even tho I'll have the wheel out now & again,it's just a quick pump with the grease gun..Whaddyareckon?
A smear of grease every 10,000 miles will do on wheel bearings. Not sure how a grease nipple is going to get the grease into the bearings. Most replacements are now sealed with a plastic shield and do not require maintenance.
I would say DON'T!! I made the mistake of over-greasing my speedometer drive thru the years, back when I had my '70; eventually, the grease found it's way into the brake drum. I guess that you could say that the brake linings and bearings were going to last indefinitely! Sealed bearings or good wheel bearing grease will be more than sufficient.
A hard lesson learned by the "village idiot": Jim
Jim,I did say I'd take the wheel out to grease....BUT,be warned, before fitting 'sealed' bearings pop off one of the seals..there's usually very little grease inside....

this idea of extra grease into sealed bearings raised it head in past - "opened a can of worms" if i remember right -
