Choke problems

I finally got a good idea what is keeping my bike from starting and its the choke. I have a 79 bonniville 750. The choke lever is rounded off and wont clip into the little groved saddle, it instantly pops back out. I got it running today after fileing the choke a bit so it slid into the grove a bit better. My next idea was to take off the little saddle and bend it so it clipped into it better but its quite hard to get at. And Im not sure if it comes out. Any suggestions? If what I've said makes sense. Also if none of this happens to work, best place to get a new choke lever and what ever the little grooved saddle peice is called.
