Don't know why I didn't offer these sooner here for Christmas. I have Yeti and Ozark Trail cooler cups with the Triumph logo on them for sale. Right now the main ones are done in a durable Matte Black powder coat with the logo either brushed stainless steel or mirror polished stainless steel. Ozark Trail 30oz. in Matte Black with brushed SS logo= $35
Ozark Trail 20oz. in Matte Black with polished logo= $32

Add $12 for patent plate.

I have to ask, and I'm not trying to be a jerk here, are you making these yourself? I mean are you making and putting the logos on the Yeti cups yourself? If so, then be prepared for some cease and desist letters from the BMW mothership if they ever get wind that you are using their logo without permission for commercial purposes.

My guess is the old Triumph (not Hinkley) and Norton logos are not a problem. Guzzi logo may fall under the same risk as BMW.

If Yeti is making these at the factory then they have probably paid for the rights to use the logos. In that case, in the words of Rosanne Rosannadana... Never mind.

regards,
Rob

Welcome back from wherever you have been hiding. We were up in your area a few months back for a wedding by where the mid-air plane crash was. Got to spend a day over at Letchworth State Park very enjoyable.

Thanks for bringing up the 'elephant in the room'. I thought about saying something but my comments are not always appreciated (or believed). I would think o1marc is making these himself and they are nice.

Your assumption on the 'old' Triumph logo is incorrect. Triumph USA has been enforcing their rights. They were very aggressive at Mid-Ohio in 2008. I have been told some of their US management is from Harley and they bought the "attitude" with them. In the UK Hinckley is also going after infringements regardless. It is my understanding all the old logos are included. When I say regardless Hinckley was giving TOMCC grief. (Talk about biting the hand that feeds you Geeez.) A LOT of members were really upset about it and it finally got worked out. For more info you can go the TOMCC Club website and look thru the Magazine starting about last July. I do not think the new Norton is organized enough to go after unauthorized product, yet. Moto Guzzi I do not know. I think BMW will confiscate, as Harley does, if they were to find out.

Wouldn't it would be nice to go back to the Rosannadana/King Tut Days?

Interesting that the old Triumph and BSA logos are also being protected again. I've often wondered if it would hold up in court. My basis for that is they were in the public domain for so many years with no issues being taken that it would be a sort of an implied consent. But I'm no lawyer nor do I play one on TV. My law knowledge comes from contract negotiations and working alongside lawyers for years. A lot of the "threats" made are just that, so much bluster to make a little guy flinch and stop because he cannot afford the legal fees.

Polaris did this with the vintage Indian folks. I'm still pissed at them. And I have ridden the new Indians and like them better than any Harley I've owned. But I'd struggle to give them a penny of my money.

My intent here, as I'm sure yours would have been Kadutz, was to save Marc some agita. Losing any lawsuit is not the real concern. It is the cost of winning it that will make you go broke.

Rob

My friend my intention was not to irritate but to illuminate however many of my posts are not perceived as such. My wife grew up around the corner from The Hog Farm in West Seneca, NY. A place H-D went after AND LOST. (GOOGLE is wonderful for information) As one that MAY have sold 'Grey Market' items under the nose of Triumph Reps I made my decision what would happen if any grabbing was attempted. >:) I once belonged to a Club where VW grabbed a bunch of stuff from a fellow member.:surprise:

I just thought these Triumph cups would be a cool item for the members here. Since there seems to be zero interest in the cups and only a concern for copyright infringement I would like the mods to completely delete this thread and I will not offer them for sale. I'd delete my posts but the forum won't let me.

Despite assumptions about "public domain", someone, somewhere, pretty much owns all trademarks.
They have commercial value in any case.

A T shirt costs £3 but a triumph logo adds £10

Polaris ? Bought Indian as a name

Velocette aka the holder family own loads of brands /rights

It's always annoyed me that "Kim the cd man" claims copyright on his discs. He does deserve credit for amassing a vast collection but technically Andover Norton own the triumph back catalogue of manuals and parts books. Not sure about the updates and stuff.

Uk law invests the writer of a letter with copyright, not the recipient .
When "princess di" letters were offered for sale they were caught up in a challenge by the royal family and withdrawn.
Presumably, technically, anything written by triumph Meriden is owned by the purchaser of the assets. Mainly John bloor, but also people like jr publications or Norman Hyde and others

I am involved in video production such as vhs/DVD or Dolby sound and we could not use those logos without approval

That advert section TT suggests might be better as it will not go off the page like this section does.Personally,i do not normally buy anything with a logo, preferring just an item that functions.I am proud of my fuel tank emblems though.

My mind must be getting slower as my years increase - firstly when you first posted re; your Yeti cups i had never heard of them - either they are not so well known this side of the pond or i have retreated too far "into the woods" -- google explained it to me --- then the TUIT ! -- had to google that too - should have worked it out for myself --- dohhhhhh !
