I have a 1964 200 tiger cub. I am having trouble with getting the timing and points set. If there is anyone who could give me some advice on this I would surely appricate it. The problem I am having is it is backfiring at higher rpms, at a idle it seems to run okay.

assuming you have set the points/timing properly to the manual, would check for air leaks around exhaust header, and air leaks on intake side between carb to head..

also it might also be a sticky centrifical advance unit.
remove points plate check freeness spring tension, lubricate, reinstall.

ps bad pug wire, plug or coil, might screw with you too..
i think i would check the advance unit first. -j
