exhaust tappet oil feed drillway

i removed the cylinders today , and found that it doesn't have a exhaust tappet oil feed drillway in the crankcase.did the early 650 crankcases not have this hole. there is a blind hole about 1/16" deep where the hole should be if that, but it looks like it was never drilled out.i'am confused and in need of some help please.

the bike is a salvage bike it has a later top end and an early bottom. vin has been changed.it must have been running like that, do you think it will be ok to keep it that way. the clymer manual says its critical that the passage way not be blocked.but if the older bikes didn't have this i would tend to think it will be alright.what do you guy's think?

In the early 60's the Triumph race department was finding the exhaust cams were suffering excessive wear during long distance races. The intake cam didn't experience this wear because residual oil was continually fed to it by the rotating crankshaft. The extra oil passage to the exhaust cam was introduced into production for the 1966 model year.

hi, i think it depends of your riding style,if you ride it hard it will be a problem but if you ride it cool(rarely over 5000 rpm and not for along time) it should be safe.
at the time ;in the sixties it was a bike for young excited men;today they ride gsxr or zzr ....
good regular maintenance will help as using good modern oil
enjoy it

i don't think i ever went over 5000 rpm on any bike, i usually just go for a nice ride, 100-200 miles. change my oil about every 1000 miles. do you think i should be ok.
