A real Triumph. My first Triumph

I just purchased a all stock 69 bonniville today. It need some work not to major but being that the guy who found it for me is mainly a harley guy we all ready have some concerns. The bike itself is in great condition and i wish i had my digital camera with me tonight, but it needs from what he told me new calipers front and back. From my knowledge unless there is some major damage to the mold of the caliper shouldnt you be able to just take out the break pad disconnect the break line clean it up and put new pads in and go from there. He never gave me a reason why they needed a replacing. What would make them go bad? the breaks seemed locked up when i did try to use the foot and the hand break

Mr. Sinister.

Easy there, Kadutz.

If it's got disc brakes it's not a 69, or it's been custom fit. It's probably a 79, not 69. You can tell, there's a hole in the top of the tank where the fixing bolt holds it down.

The brake PUCKS stick in the bores and need to be released before you can clean up the caliper bodies and pucks so they won't continue to stick. THEN replace the pads after you put it back together.

Welcome to the forum.
