I'm finding that quality Stainless Steel fastener manufacturers/suppliers, other than the renowned establishments such as Molnars & Middletons, do exist out there.
A bike rebuilder can either shell out $900 - $1,000 bucks on bolts and get the very best (catalogued & sized ready to go), or by using the Triumph Fastener spreadsheet he can catalogue his needs and shop around.
I've found that if fasteners are ordered using "genuine part numbers" vs just specifying a bolt dimension then the premium can be several fold.
I've created a comprehensive shopping list and will be able to pick up most of my needs from a couple home country suppliers.
Alternative suppliers won't have all our needs, but shortfalls can be directed to Middletons or similar, but by using non motorcycle specific suppliers for the bulk of ones needs your budget can be kept under control.
Naturally you need to make sure you're not buying poor quality.
One downside is the need to cut some of the bolt sizes to specific lengths.
I understand the difference between a Screw & Bolt (with latter the thread stops part of the way up the shank).
Is there a formula for thread vs no thread on the UH shank of a Bolt with a given length?
When practicing cuts, I realised if you shorten a bolt too much you can cut too much of the thread away.
Thanks Guys.
