NEED ADVICE! Buying: '66 Bonneville w/ '69 Front End.

This is the information i got now being a first time buyer i would like for some of you old triumph vets to yeah or nay it he wants $6000
__________________________________________________ _______________
- Matching frame and engine numbers

- Receipts for all rebuild work (motor, trans, brakes, wheels, wiring, etc. this was all done for the previous owner by a restoration shop in CT)

- 876 miles since rebuild.

- Powder coated frame, forks, hubs, tank, most everything

- ’69 Front end with 2LS brakes

- ’71 Conical rear hub (better brakes)

- New Amal 930 Carbs. They probably have less than 100miles on them.

- Sun Aluminum Race Wheels

- Stainless Spokes

- Stainless Fenders

- Avon Roadrunners front/rear

- Koni 7610 adjustable shocks

- Boyer Ignition

- Typanium Regulator

- Reproduction ’66 Seat

- Working Smith gauges

- Custom Exhaust

- And more …(I have a bunch of misc. parts and manuals that I plan to hand over with the bike)

*Aluminum raceing tank (2 sweeten the deal)

The only damage to the bike is on the left side exhaust pipe (pic 6) which was pushed in a little in a small spill I had with it about two years ago. It seems to work fine and it’s really hard to see the damage. There is also a hairline crack in the headlamp glass but you really have to look for it to see it.

I saw that bike for sale a couple of months ago. It's a fair deal if it starts, idles, runs and stops well.

Looks good and if it performs well, I'd say go for it. With clear title and all. I don't happen to think that the conical rear has better brakes, I think it's more cosmetic, but whatever floats yer boat. It has some of the upgrades which I would do. But you could use the lack of original monobloc carbs, no stock rear wheel, late primary cover and header clamps, shocks to beat him down a little on the price. But, it looks like a fair deal at 6K. Good rider.
But do me a favor....get the right front fender brackets....those C/TT brackets make the fender look goofy. Get the proper R type.
There are a LOT of bikes for sale with these fitted. Must have been a large batch made by mistake and everybody got a set on ebay.

I think it's just the "teardrop" fender tab brackets (on the fork tubes) that are installed upside-down, makes the final position look 1" higher than it is supposed to be.

Nope, those are the brackets I am talking about, and they are the wrong ones. The C and TT had a bracket which raised the fender a good three eighths to a half an inch. If you mount the stock R brackets upside down, it DROPS the fender a little. He needs the R brackets.

Do as you like the black bike no matter what is a 6 grand BITSA. It may have matching numbers but if you want a stock bike walk on by. To me worth about $2000 as a base for a restoration.

The 76/77 you post appears to be a clean well maintain bike. I note it has an oil cooler in addition to your comments. If those are the original K70's on the bike I would strongly suggest you replace them AND the tubes if you plan to really ride this bike. Note if this bike is a 76 check the spokes (especially the rear) as the are of a lighter gauge than the 77/78 spokes and do break. Price.... thats up to you. The most I ever paid for an OIF is $1500.

Now a question. I have read you comments on each bike and I cannot figure out if you are looking to buy one or both of these or if you own them and are trying to sell them?

Whats going on here?
