Hunt Magneto

I've been looking for a secondhand magneto for my chop in Australia but have come up no good

So now I'm thinking of a new one, what would be cheaper ? to buy a new one in Aust or buy one o/s & get it posted.

Can anyone give me an idea on o/s prices ?

About $700 USD for a new one, supplies and sources are limited.

Joe Hunt still has them on his website, and the price is about 7 bones. But add 250 more for the single fire conversion, which I prefer. Not really necessary unless you have a very high overlap racing camshaft set. Doesn't look like you have a roadracer there, bud.
As far as cost, I'd spring for the new unit. Otherwise, it's a crapshoot.
Consider, these do get banged up and who knows why a used one is up for sale? It makes an expensive crashbar.

Cool

A new hunt magneto is $700.00 + $138.00 Dollars for mounting kit.I have been rebuilding magnetos for several years, and selling them.I have all the magneto books,so I know where, and what parts to procure,to make a mag a lot cheaper(not all the mags were used on bikes) Usually price is $400.00 to $500.00.all new internals, except rotors, which I have remagnetised.I gauratee all my mags, money back thru ebay(paypal)single fire mags are only $$100.00 more.I also come across ARD mags from time to time.If you go Joe hunt.or Morris,or Fairbanks/morse.you will still need the mounting kit. This is the mag adapter to side case mount plate,a sealed bearing, and the hex shaft, from points cam shaft to magneto.I prefer the Ard,because of the size, but, for the price, you really can not beat the Hunt.

The hunt mag on my '69 makes it a guaranteed first-kick starter.
